Let me give you a hint. In my village, I have every flag and decoration available. Am I out of control with the bling?
Maybe, but here’s a little known fact about decorations: They’re not just pretty. They’re functional.
Troops cannot be dropped on decorations.
Around the perimeter of every functional building, such as defenses, mines, and walls, is a buffer zone of one space. The buffer zone is shown to you temporarily as a white overlay that fades in and out whenever you move a building. Troops cannot be dropped in the buffer zone. If you have two units that are not more than two spaces apart, the buffer zone between them prevents troops from being dropped there.
However, sometimes you need to set your walls more than two spaces apart because you’re just plumb out of walls, yet you need to keep those wall breakers outside of the outer wall.
Troops can run right past decorations, but troops cannot be dropped onto the square that a decoration occupies.
Decorations can be sold for gold and elixir.
In the latest Clash of Clans update through the App Store, Supercell removed the ability to sell functional buildings back to the store, however, you can still sell back decorations. Think of it as a pawn shop. Once you buy a decoration, if you’re strapped for cash, you can sell it back for 10% of the cost. So, a flag that costs 100K gold in the store can be sold back for 10K gold whenever you need it. Simply tap on the decoration that you want to sell back and tap the Sell button.
Don’t burn your gold and elixir. Invest in decorations.
Do you know what happens to looted gold that doesn’t fit in your gold storage? It evaporates into the ether, lost forever. So, if your gold storage is near max capacity (I know, a sad problem), consider buying some decorations that will yield a small 10% return rather than burning the overage as a libation to the Supercell gods. The Clash of Clans store has decorations that can be exchanged for elixir as well as gold, so there are investments for either resource.
What do you do once you’ve bought all the decorations available in the store, and you’ve used them strategically near your buffer zones, but you’re still overflowing with gold and elixir? Don’t worry. I’ll come relieve you of your woes.
Thank you for the gold, and what pretty flags you have.
